Skills Lab

Traditionally, surgical skills have been acquired in the operating room while clinical skills have been mastered in the patient care areas.
But due to the declining length of stay and the rising cost of health care, it
is not always feasible for the novice to learn and practice in this manner. Therefore, it is our goal that this facility becomes a recognized center-of-excellence in providing simulated and realistic hands-on training for medical and surgical professionals.

Lab sessions for medical students are designed to provide basic skills, maintenence of those skills and an introduction to the more advanced responsibilities they will encounter in the future. Resident labs focus on skills competency training and evaluation, and training in new procedures and emerging technologies.

Our instructors are professionals who are dedicated to teaching and excel in their fields. Residents are also responsible for assisting with many labs to provide personalized training, along with encouragment, guidance and immediate feedback.

We take great pride in our proactive approach to providing medical students and residents with the skills that they need and want. This comes about from suggestions, requests and feedback on the class evaluations.

Independent practice is available and highly recommended.
