Family Medicine Residency Program Curriculum

    Three Year Curriculum


    OGME 1:

    The first year of this three-year progam the resident will rotate through the core medical rotations which include:

    The first year resident will begin their continuity of care requirement of one half day per week at the Fleet Medical Practice.


    OGME 2:

    During the second year as the skills and knowledge base is expanded, the volume of panel patients are increased. Six patients per half day is expected. The resident will spend four half days (minimum) in the clinic. The resident will also spend time per week in a nursing home environment to satisfy the geriatric curriculum. The resident will continue to complete the required core rotations. These include:

    • Subspecialties in Internal Medicine
    • Obstetric and Gynecology
    • Pediatric and Adolescent medicine
    • Surgery (ambulatory subspecialities)

    They will begin to complete elective rotations that they feel will enhance their future practice interests.


    OGME 3:

    The final year gives the resident the opportunity to have more elective rotations and expand the continuity of care experience. The resident will accept more patients (up to 10 per half day).  They will complete their core requirements. The senior resident will be required to complete a Research and Scholarly Activity requirement in the form of a research project, case presentation and/or author a grant. The resident is highly encouraged to present at a local, state or national meeting.
