As with our interview process, we do a holistic review of applications for audition rotations. We look for well-rounded candidates whose goals align with the Program's mission and values. Applications are reviewed based on a rubric that evaluates passing the licensing exams on first attempt, performance on core third year clerkships, volunteerism, leadership, research experience, etc. A panel of program faculty and residents review applications on a rolling basis and rotations will be granted as spots are available. Applicants will be notified by email if we can accommodate your requested dates. Due to the large volume of applications received, please provide alternate dates, if possible.
Please note, we offer audition rotations for 4-weeks (preferred) and 2-weeks. For schools requiring 2-week rotations; we no longer supplement with an additional 2-week subspecialty rotation. Applicants are required to indicate if they have passed their COMLEX-1/USMLE-1 on first attempt.
Applicants do not need to audition at South Pointe Hospital to be considered for an interview with the General Surgery Residency Program, nor does completing an audition rotation guarantee you an interview spot.
All residency candidates must submit applications through ERAS and participate in the NRMP match. The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is our Sponsoring Institution. Many of our graduates continue on to fellowship programs.
NOTE: All newly appointed South Pointe Hospital residents must attend two full weeks of GME Orientation at the end of June and prior to starting their training on July 1. In addition, new Residents are asked not to schedule any time off in July as there are several additional mandatory Orientation sessions scheduled throughout the month. Missing any portion of GME Orientation may delay the trainee's start date.
Please check back frequently for updates and in the event of a cancellation.
